On October 25, 1970, we began our bus ministry under the leadership of Dr. Johnson. The ministry has provided transportation to and from church for nearly forty years now. He had the idea that if buses could be used to transport children to school during the week, they could also be a wonderful tool to bring not just children, but teenagers and even moms and dads to our services on Sunday mornings.
What started out with just one bus (affectionately nicknamed “Humpy”) grew at one time to fifteen bus routes. Currently, we have four Sunday bus routes with many experienced workers that help bring people to church in this unique ministry. Transportation is provided in cities such as Rosemount, Farmington, Apple Valley, Burnsville, and Eagan.
It would be our privilege to be able to pick you up and give you an opportunity to hear the Word of God taught and preached. Please call the church office at 651.423.2271 for more information.
First Baptist Church conducts church services in two county jails. The Goodhue County Adult Detention Center in Red Wing, Minnesota has services every Saturday night. And the Dakota County Adult Detention Center in Hastings, Minnesota has services on Sunday mornings on a rotating basis every seven weeks. This ministry is available with the help of almost twenty volunteer staff made up of men and women.
On any typical week, our volunteer staff travel to the Goodhue County facility and conduct church services where gospel songs are sung, the Bible is preached, and souls are saved. There is on average approximately twenty men and six women that attend these services. Services at the Dakota County Adult Detention Center are much larger with the average number of attendees at approximately eighty. We are privileged to see at times over thirty people trust Christ as their personal Savior in Dakota County in one service.
The outreach to the jailed people of our area has taken place for many years at First Baptist. These people are important to us. With a jail ministry director and a great volunteer staff, our purpose is to see men and women desire a new life in Christ and grow richly in Him. Our program stresses the Bible and a local church emphasis where they can grow in the Lord. There is follow up once they have been released to help people be faithful toward Christ.
Gifts of Love Ministry
Our Gifts of Love Ministry is an outreach ministry directed toward families within our area that are in need. The program takes place annually during the Christmas holidays. For our own church family it promotes the importance of giving and allows us to help meet the needs of others.
Our church family donates items and gives monetarily to this ministry each year. Gently-used or brand new donations such as toys and various items commence during the latter part of November and the first part of December. Items donated from our church family are gift-wrapped by volunteers here at our church. These items are grouped together and given to needy families within the metro area.
The Gifts of Love Ministry not only works to meet the needs of various economically-challenged families, but it helps to meet man’s most important need – an opportunity to know and accept the Lord Jesus Christ.
First Baptist Church of Rosemount has been privileged to be used of the Lord in the planting of churches. We believe the responsibility of the planting of churches rests with the local church ministry using a reproducing church as a support and help to the new church being planted. The ministry of reproducing churches is an important one. First Baptist believes firmly in the local church ministry. The book of Acts has much to say about the local, New Testament church. We seek to plant churches so that others in various communities not only will hear the gospel witness and receive it, but they will have a place for their family and friends to worship.
“We Help Addicted Adults Find Freedom”
RU Recovery Program exists to help adults find freedom from addictive behavior. We accomplish this by assisting them in gaining and maintaining consistent communication with the Highest Power. This power is not a higher power chosen by them, but a Holy Power that has chosen them. Usefulness in life is then attained with community service through a good church. Wednesdays, 7:00 PM
How to Accomplish the Great Commission
Each week our church has the opportunity to go door to door, sharing the Gospel and inviting people to our services.
When a contact is made with an individual who shows an openness to the Gospel and church, we make follow up visits to help answer any questions.
Leading an individual to a personal knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Savior is one of the greatest joys of the Christian.
Baptism is the first step for new Christians. It is an outward identification with the inward decision of acceptance of Christ.
Discipleship is an opportunity for new Christians to grow in the Lord, and in their knowledge of what the Bible says. First Baptist Church offers a one-on-on discipleship program.
